Whole Foods First Aid Kit
Most of us keep a first aid kit on hand to deal with common health concerns. Bandages, ointment, tweezers and other necessities are usually what you want to mend minor medical emergencies. However, more unconventional kit consisting of whole food items can be helpful to have on-hand as well!
Peppermint Tea: A cup of minty tea can ease a headache, soothe an upset stomach and reduce tension. Steep 1-2 teaspoons peppermint tea leaves in 1 cup of hot water, for 4 minutes, then strain and drink. Iced peppermint tea is also great during these warmer months, garnished with slices of lemon.
Ginger: It soothes gastrointestinal symptoms, including motion sickness and morning sickness. Make a tea by steeping 1 tablespoon ground fresh ginger in hot water for ten minutes then strain. Sip slowly.
Apple Cider Vinegar: You can mix 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar into a glass of filtered water to soothe an upset stomach or make a 50/50 solution with water and spray on sunburned skin to soothe.
Aloe Vera Plant: Use as often as needed to soothe the discomfort and speed the healing of sunburns, blisters, cuts, scrapes and other minor skin irritations. You can simply break a leaf off the plant and apply the juice.
